Shawna Moore’s dynamic technique incorporates pigment and beeswax, which is heated and applied to a wood substrate by layering. The surface is a visual record of selected memories. Moore considers her work as a diary of her own life experience and contemplative journey.
The encaustic medium inherently has the ability to reveal and obscure, creating mysterious surfaces and reveal- ing depth within the use of line and color. Moore’s background in architecture (University of Oregon, 1983-89) and her continual exploration into the role of art and painting in purpose and place, have helped create a unique vision in her life and studio. Shawna Moore lives and works in White sh, Montana. She has been featured in numerous solo, group and invitational exhibitions.
